Andy & Storey Hart
Owners/Operators
Andy and Storey Hart came to Red Lodge for vacation in 1995 and fell in love with this little western community nestled in the Beartooth Mountains. Their passions for hiking, fly fishing, skiing and pack trips into the mountains made Red Lodge a perfect second home. Storey’s love for horses started at an early age riding in the Green Mountains of Vermont. After multiple pack trips with her cowgirl friends in the mountains of Wyoming and Montana, she and Andy purchased a house on the East Bench in 2005 to enjoy the year-round outdoor activities. Storey found the horse of her dreams at age 50 and began training with Bill Crabtree, which formed a relationship that led to the idea of buying a horse ranch. When Aspen Ridge came available it was a dream come true. Andy enjoys farming and helps manage the hay operation while Bill Crabtree manages the daily ranch operations including training and boarding.
Storey was able to live her dream of riding and training horses in Montana until November of 2019 when she lost her battle to cancer. We continue to carry Storey’s legacy on to share with our borders and friends.
Bill Crabtree
Head Trainer – Ranch Manager
ARR is privileged to partner with Bill Crabtree Quarterhorses and Training. Bill and his team are in charge of the day-to-day operations at the ranch. From feeding to stall cleaning and running everything in-between, one can rest assured that your horse receives the ultimate in care 365 days a year. Bill and his wife Kristin have spent their entire lives devoted to horses and their human counterparts. Kristin is now devoting her time to her artwork and leaving the more physical aspects of the operation to the younger generation. Bill has developed his own brand of natural horsemanship over years of experience. He has been fortunate to work with many great horsemen and women over the years and has developed an integrated program for every level of rider and every kind of horse.
His philosophy is based upon creating a quiet and equal equestrian partner, with a strong foundation established on the ground through respect and communication. He teaches the horse and rider to engage mentally to work toward their desired result and encourages all riders to be adept at a systematic set of ground games.
Bill has worked with many different students with different goals. Some are working for blue ribbons and buckles in the show world, many just want to learn proper horse etiquette and safety for the trails. Whatever your equestrian needs, he can help you accomplish them.
Bill is also a licensed real estate agent, specializing in buyer representation and has served the Red Lodge area for over 40 years.
